Grade 9 Practical Arts - Foods & Video components

Cooking Show Project

Before you begin the actual video taping of your cooking assignment, you must do some preparation to ensure everything goes as planned.

The steps involved are as follows:

1. Preparing a rough draft of the process. this is refered to as a "Treatment". Your first task is to prepare a treatment of your cooking process from start to finish. You can view an example treatement by clicking on this link, and you can download a treatment template to use in preparing your own treatement by clicking on this link. It will download the file to your computer. You can open the file with microsoft word.

2. After you have prepared your treatment, the next step will fill in more of the details into a sequence you will follow. This is called information processing. Information processing is an exercise in visualizing and / or recording each step from start to finish. This involves the important steps and assumes some basic knowledge. For example, one step might be:

"Measure out two teaspoons of sugar and add them to the dry mixture"

It is assumed that there is an understanding of what a teaspoon is and how to use a teaspoon to measure out a required amount. Most recipies have a set of tasks listed for you to follow. You may use this as a guide to completing your Information Processing. Be sure to double check your information by making sure all possible questions have been answered by leaving no steps or details.

Use Microsoft Word to create your Information Processing sequence. You can download a Info Pro Template by clicking here. Remember to save as you go in case something happens. Save before you print! Make 3 copies of this as you will hand in one, give one to the camera operator, and use the other while preparing your recipie.
